Community Service opportunities:
13th Food Packaging Event Sunday October 12th
Need To Know Information
122,000 Meal Packaging Record!!!
Thank you for your willingness to help us assemble food packs for families in need in S.D. along with providing much needed food for
families and children in Tanzania, Africa. 1/3 of all meals packed are distributed throughout San Diego, 2/3 of the meals are packaged and
shipped Tanzania, Africa.
Our next event will be held on Sunday, October 12 from 1:00am to 4:00pm at St. Bartholomew Church in Poway, 16275 Pomerado
Rd. Poway 92064. The assembly and packaging will be done outside on the parking lot. This event is for the entire family but critical that
you sign up in advance, each child must be accompanied with an adult.
The bulk food items of rice, soy, 21 different vitamins, and dehydrated vegetables are purchased through donations from our community.
Our ability to purchase these bulk food items is directly related to your help in donating and helping us raise funds to continue this much
needed effort. So please help us by donating $20.00 or more and 1 hour of time. This will allow us to feed a child in Tanzania for 5 months.
It costs $39,000 for 300,000 meals, $.13 cents per meal
In addition to the expense of purchasing the bulk food items, an additional $12,000 is needed to cover the cost of shipping the 300,000
meals to Tanzania.
Please help us get the word out. All donations are tax deductible. We will have a container at the registration table for you to place you
donations. You can make your check payable to FFCC and write Hunger in the memo section.
Your Responsibility prior to the Event:
• You can sign up for as many 1 hr. blocks of time that are available.
• Let us know which hour(s) blocks of time you plan on working beginning at 1:00am and ending at 4:00pm.
• How many will be in your party?
• Put on lots of sunscreen and bring water bottles/lunch/snacks, as you desire.
• Bring a snack/munchy to share
In the event of potential rain, I will send out an e-mail cancelling on Saturday before the event. If no e-mail, the event is on!!!

> There is an opportunity for color guard experience with the Maritime
> Museum on the USS Berkley (by the Star of India). The board of
> directors meets every week on Wednesdays and they would like a Scout
> troop – they have some boy scouts, but would love Girl Scouts. Please
> spread this around– great opportunity for service hours.

> after ceremony, probably 7:15 Full uniform requested

Sponsor an animal for $50 at Rancho Coastal Humane Society. The girls can participate in the adoption process and support an
animal as it waits for its forever home. It's educational and hands on.
