We serve girls from the Del Mar Union school district, Del Mar Pines, and the San Diego Jewish Academy, as well as scouts at Earl Warren and Carmel Valley Middle Schools and Torrey Pines High School. Girl Scout Faith Walk
Want to share your Faith with Girls Scouts from all over San Diego County? We are looking for leaders from the faith community
to volunteer for the Girl Scout Faith Walk on March 8, 2008. This year Faith Walk will take a new spin as a world faith diversity fair
where girls can explore and discover different faiths in a safe open environment. Girls attending this event will have an
opportunity to attend a candle ceremony, decorate prayer flags, and participate in a community service project, as well as visiting
booths to learn about various faiths.
We need your help in finding leaders in the faith community to share their experience, knowledge, and faith and talk to girls as
they move through the booths. Some of the Faiths we would like to share with the girls include the following: Christianity, Sikhism,
Muslim, Baha'i, Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Native American, and New Thought.
Please let me know if you have any contacts who may be interested in participating in this event as a representative of one of the
above faiths or if you know of a faith that should also be included. The more diversity we can provide for this event the better it
will be.
Please contact Amanda Host at 619-610-0781 or ahost@girlscoutssdi.org with any questions or to volunteer for this event.
World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) Survey
Did you know….The World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts is a worldwide Movement providing non-formal education
where girls and young women develop leadership and life skills through self-development, challenge and adventure? Girl Guides
and Girl Scouts learn by doing. The World Association brings together Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting Associations in 144
countries across the globe. The WAGGGS website www.wagggsworld.org has resources to help you learn more about Girl Guiding
and Girl Scouts and plan your World Thinking Day celebrations.
As we come up to the 100th birthday of Girl Guides in 2010, WAGGGS is looking for input to further its mission "to enable girls
and young women to develop their fullest potential as responsible citizens of the world." And build towards its vision for 2011 "We
are a growing worldwide Movement - the voice of girls and young women who influence issues they care about and build a better
world." Your help is needed to accomplish this goal.
The World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) has launched a worldwide survey on volunteering that seeks to
find out about girls' and young women's (age 11 - 24) understanding of volunteerism, and what motivates young people to join
organizations and inspires them to become leaders. Results will be announced at the July 2008 World Conference.
