This is the web page for the Del Mar Service Unit (#690) of the San Diego-Imperial County Girl Scouts.
The Del Mar Service Unit team acts as a liaison to the greater San Diego Girl Scout Council and provides assistance to the over 50 Girl Scout troops in the Del Mar/Carmel Valley area. We serve girls from the Del Mar Union school district, Del Mar Pines, and the San Diego Jewish Academy, as well as scouts at Earl Warren and Carmel Valley Middle Schools and Torrey Pines High School. For more information on scouting in the Del Mar area or to join a Girl Scout troop, please contact our Service Unit Manager.

The Older Girls are baa-aack!!
We've met, we've planned and we're anxious to get re-involved in the Service Unit. You're gonna love it. If you didn't catch the
updates on your email, you can see a summary on the CSA Troop Info page. What's CSA? "Cadette, Senior, Ambassador
As soon as you have your cookie money in your account I very strongly suggest that you use your very next bank
statement for your year-end financials. Get it done now - don't wait for the school year to end. Even if you closed
out your year last June or July, you can still end your financial year in April or May if you like.
Every fall I have to send friendly reminders to many of our troops, asking them to get their financials submitted so
that their little scouts can sell cookies (or nuts). Please, I beg you, I really don't enjoy sending those out. Submit it
before school gets out!
The camping supplies have a new home - Silvia Wahr. Contact Silvia if you need any camping or outdoor activity
supplies.

2009 Cookie Program Extended
Optional, Unique Campaign Runs May 18-June 5
To give troops and our council a second chance to achieve their financial goals, we've developed a unique, limited
time cookie campaign. Troops pick up cookies from council stores and sell them from May 18-June 5.
How the Cookie Extension Program Works
• Troops can get cookies at the Balboa, Carlsbad or Escondido stores until Friday, June 5. They may purchase
only full cases and pay $39/case, for a $9/case profit (.75/box). There are no troop incentives. Unsold cases and
boxes may be returned by Friday, June 5 to the same store where they were purchased.
• Troops may contact friends, families, co-workers, customers and neighbors to tell them Girl Scout Cookies are
available again for a short time. There will be no booth sales. Girls should never sell alone or enter houses. Use
Safety-Wise ratios when selling in groups. Girl safety is our top priority.
• All funds are deposited directly into troop bank accounts; troops report proceeds on troop financial reports.
OTM Donations Now Available Online
We are still accepting Operation Thin Mint donations at www.girlscoutssdi.org/otm . Cookies ARE NOT sold online.
The online program only allows donations to the OTM Program. Customers are told they will not receive cookies and
that their money supports OTM.
How the OTM Donation Program Works
• Customers visit www.girlscoutssdi.org/otm and complete the online donation form. They can donate online or
mail their donation.
• They can add a troop number so a troop gets credit for the donation. Troops will received their portions by
check after the program is over
• If a troop number is not included, the troop portion of the donation goes directly to the Opportunity Fund
• Donations go directly to the OTM Program.
